It all begins with a Thought.
Alice: If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn’t be, and what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see? ~excerpt from Alice in Wonderland
Some of my goals for 2013:
1) Try at least 10 new foods this year
2) Work out every single day unless you are too sick (had 2 such days so far unfortunately)
3) Read a new book every month (which is a big one for me since I think I only read one entire book the whole of last year!)
4) Designs goals: in the works there are approx 14 (!) sweaters, 1 vest, 2 pairs of mitts, 2 hats, 1 toy, 1 blanket, 1 bag, 2 shawls. I’ve got big plans this year!
Simple, but there you go. That’s how I roll these days. As for the design goals, well, looking back at last year I have published 13 designs, including 8 garments. So I’m biting off a bit much, but that’s what goals are for, right?
The days and nights have been a bit of a blur lately as I’ve been fighting what I hope is just some nasty allergy stuff that makes me all foggy. Instead of being happy for the fact that is will be 71 degrees Fahrenheit here tomorrow, I find myself being concerned of things that ‘don’t exist’ like, ahem, global warming. No worries, this is NOT the blog for that. I will enjoy it just the same, and there will be no excuse to not go hiking, feeling crappy or not.
The knitting right now is 2 laceweight sweaters, which are a bit camera shy, as taking pics of anything in a lace yarn in progress looks more like a heap of crazy mess! Lace knitting is notoriously bad for picture taking in this stage. Yet, this is the best I could do for now.
This is much more lovely in person, I promise. Notice patient dog outside at left, ‘let me in already!’
One nice thing is that these basically fit entirely into their respective yarn bowls when you’re done knitting on them!
Both of these are cardigans (what, you mean you couldn’t tell??). I have a feeling that in spite of their long knitting time, these will actually get used quite a bit by me, as I’m sure I’ve said before, I tend to run warm. Right now I’m wearing a tank top in fact (for yoga). I love having things to throw on and go out the door.
This is a shot of my office corner, if you look closely, you’ll see both the gray and peach sweater swatches in there!
Other than that, I’m making some granola today. Here’s my fresh from the oven, dried-out apples:
I’m making them into this recipe, so excited about homemade granola!
Have a great day all, back soon with lots more to share.
